Community Hub

The recently refurbished Kinloch Community Hub which opened in 2019 is situated on the main road midway between Stornoway and Tarbert On the A859. Spacious Car parking and electric car charging point available.

Some of the facilities opening times may be different, because of Covid-19 restrictions.


The Café provides a range of hot meals, soups and snacks. The main opening hours are Tuesday – Saturday 12 pm to 3 pm, 6 pm to 9 pm. The Hub has recently been fully renovated and has available, spaces for Meetings, Conferences or Performances. Break-out areas are also available.

Private parties/groups are also catered for – we can accommodate parties/groups of 50/60 in our Café area.

Wi-fi, public address/loop and Skype conferencing facilities are available.

Excellent acoustics and thermostatically controlled underfloor heating provide a comfortable venue.

Gift Shop

The gift shop stocks merchandise from local craft workers as well as stocking the publications for KHS and The Island Book Trust.

Open – Mon to Fri, 10am to 4pm. Other times by arrangement

Charity Shop

The Charity Shop is run by Community volunteers, on a rota basis. It has been open since 2014 and is now in a purpose-built building. It is open Tue, Thu, Fri – 1pm – 4pm & Sat 10am – 4pm.

KHS provides opportunities for volunteering in the above areas. Volunteers are much valued and are very active in delivering all the activities and services of the Society. Without them we could not operate all the facilities on site.

Rental Office

The Old Schoolhouse has been completely refurbished to provide five offices which are available for rental. This area is self-contained with a separate kitchen and disabled toilet.

We also have office space available at a separate location in Laxay.

Launderette - coin operated

Opened in January 2016. Self Service. Coin operated (£1 or £2 coins).

Please note that washing powder is not supplied in the launderette.
