𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝘂𝗯, 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻
𝗦𝗮𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 – 𝟯𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆, 𝟭𝟬𝗮𝗺 – 𝟰𝗽𝗺, 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 – 𝗦𝗮𝘁

From February to March 2026, supported through the Species on the Edge programme, pupils from Sgoil nan Loch worked with the Kinloch Historical Society to learn about the various species living in and around the Laxay River.

Individuals from The Bumblebee Conservation Trust, RSPB, NatureScot, Atlantic Salmon Trust, the Soval Estate, and local crofters and tradition bearers shared their knowledge and expertise.

As part of the Outer Hebrides Wildlife Festival we are showcasing our learning journey through sensory eco-cultural maps which provide information on the biodiversity of the Laxay River and our cultural connection to it over the past 150 years.
